Easter

Here are some action shots of the kids and their Easter egg hunt. They are always good sports every year. There are only so many hiding places the Easter bunny can hide 50 eggs in a backyard like ours. Most of them are in plain sight, it is more of an egg "gathering" than an egg "hunt" but they are good gatherers.
Easter dinner was a little different, I made the dinner but left for the hospital while they were eating. A very good friend of mine, Jan Arterburn, was dying of cancer. She lasted 7 days without food or water and passed away April 14. It was very difficult to see her the last three days of her life. I imagine it was a terrible way to die. I thought a lot about life and death those three days as I watched her hanging onto the last threads of her earthly life. She seemed to be trapped in that space between life and death. Unable to communicate with anyone around her, waiting patiently until she was set free. She was buried the day her 55th wedding anniversary party was to take place. She was an amazing person. She fought her cancer for five difficult years, she didn't complain, she endured to the end. I will miss her very, very much.
